There we go! Sai. Again. You remember what I posted on Facebook? The way today I am feeling warm and fuzzy and lovey dovey. Anyway Our headmistress miss Sai was honoured for her work recently. Last week Miss. Sai and a bunch of other phenomenal women were honoured at the first Women mean Business Entrepreneurial & Leadership Brunch.

You can read the story here at ALUX. You might also want to know that ALUX- African Luxury Mag is the fabulous project Sai begun after BecauseIamFabulous. Please visit that site and see for yourself. In fact every time some white folks want to bring for you stories of how Africa is sijui I dont know what what, just send them that link.

Before I continue, let's take a moment and appreciate Sai's walk-in closet that I know some of you would sell your mothers for...

In that respect (ebu look at the way I am writing proper professional journalistic stuff). As I was saying, along those lines I feel that I need to honor some phenomenal women, I call my friends. You know us women have to stop these cheap jealousy, you see a woman is doing good, mara they are show offs, mara they slept their ways up there, mara. Woman STOP it! Be happy for your fellow species. We should strive to acknowledge and cheer other women on.

I am going to be doing pieces on women in between the fashion talk that I usually do. So let's get on with it.

Ms. Liza Mucheru-Wisner

I am sure most of you know Liza from the USA TV series The Apprentice. If you are grazing the same fields with Donald Trump, you are a super human in my books. Now, I know Liza from way back when I was a receptionist at Iconnect Ltd. (Yah I was).  Her brother  - Joe Mucheru who now heads Google Africa, was our boss. Liz is a super mom, a woman with an outstanding business head.. ok sometimes I just cannot do these women enough justice with my limited writing skills.. so here is something small from her website..

Liza Mucheru Wisner is an award winning business performance advisor and top 3 finalist on Season 10 of the television show, “The Apprentice”, with real estate billionaire Donald Trump. As a native of Nairobi, Kenya, Ms. Wisner ventured to the United States on a golf scholarship representing Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Islander women’s golf team. She previously won the Kenya National Championship title and represented Kenya at regional and international golf championships.

That Liza is dong some amazing charity work on top of her career and duties as a mother is worth mentioning. That she is a golfer; and I know if she where to go head on head with Tiger Woods, she would thrash him, is also worth mentioning. That you may think I am just flossing my women folk around is duely noted.

To learn more about Liza please go to her Website lisawisner.com - be inspired.

Wanjiru Kamau-Rutenberg

Wanjiru and I were in the same class in high school. Wanjiru is one of the incredibly smart ones, she has her own foundation, she is an assistant professor at a university in San Fransisco; she just moved jobs to Director at AWARD -  African Women in Agricultural Research and Development. Surely will I ever catch up?!!!!!! Its like akina Wanjiru were in class and I was peeping through the window during lessons in school.
To add this to her long list of achievements, she too is a super mom, super wife and well super woman. She has been with the love of her life for 10years and counting -- huko you, you cant even hack 6 months.

By the way I call her Wanjiru because I am her friend. For you its DOCTOR as in Dr. Wanjiru N. Kamau-Rutenberg.

To learn more about Wanjiru go to these links:  Akili Dada, University of Fansisco and CGIAR - be inspired.

Zohre Esmaeli

For those of you who follow this blog. You know Zohre. I have featured her here before. Zohre is my friend from my days in Europe when we were shuttling from one European country to the next doing modelling jobs, and a thousand plus one castings that never turned out to to be jobs.

Zohre is really a remarkable young woman - I woman I am proud to call my friend, the younger sister I never had. She has grown from a young scared girl to a power woman! A woman who has gone through a lot, a lot, a lot to be where she is standing right now.

Annnnndddd... (drum rolls please) HER BOOK IS OUT!!!!! I have said that on my wall like one thousand times but here I am saying it again.

Haiya?!! you think I am lying? Ebu angalia kwa bookshelf in this bookshop. So, have you seen it? Zohre's book can be found on Amazon. You are a smart girl get the book (ehh some basic german knowledge might come in handy here)

love you to bits baby.

Shots from our last holiday together in Italy - Porto Ronto .. uuuwii!! I miss her!!

Now to learn more about Zohre go here to her facebook page zohreesmaeli and or her website: www.zohre.de. And as I said early some basic german knowledge will help, or just go stare at the pictures, you will still get it. You are not stupid. - Be inspired.

Patricia Lulu Mbela

Lulu, I know through Angelina. A friendship that has stuck since. If you are a fashionista on the kenyan scene and you do not know Pat, sijui you should go hide where. Lulu is the force to reckon with in the kenyan fashion industry. Lulu made the bold move to leave this crazy Nairobi and move back to her roots that can be traced to the sandy coastal line of kenya (I hope I am not starting to sound like that blogger I dislike called cabuga)

Lulu's - Patricia Mbela- for you. is really phenomenal. I have blogged her like 1000 times. Her work is amazing, to die for.. si you see for yourself if you think am ongezaing salt.

Lulu as you know is the brains behind the fashion lable POISA. Lulu is venturing into a really difficult place. Bringing fashion week to Mombasa. And by fashion week I mean a real fashion week, not those 2 hour affair we have been seeing allover the place they are calling fashion week, kumbe it a 2 minutes affair.  This is a project that is very close to her heart. Lulu I believe is a pioneer in the kenyan haute couture and off the rack fashion scene.

Do you know how difficult  it is to give kenyans something that they have not seen? The obstacles, the heartache, the agony. But Lulu is a soldier! Mombasa City Fashion Week is coming to Kenya in October 2014, this thing is going to work either way. I am on board. Please go to the MCFW page and show some support by liking the page. And then while at it go to POISA's facebook page and learn something. - be inspired

Deliah Awuor

Yaani you were thinking how now a jaluo is not being featured in here, sem on you! Anywaysssssss...
Deliah is like the super super model of in the kenyan market right now. And I know her. I know her because she is a super model. And I am in the business of knowing all fabulous people. I met Deliah the first time I think, at the shoot of The CocaCola - a billion reason Commercial shoot. I know you think I lie. But since I know some of you are the doubting Thomases, here is the commercial.

And because I know some of you have selective blindness, here (below) is me.  My part: I am Last Year's Miss Kenya and I am handing over the crown to the new Miss Kenya like this...

Bow down to the queen! Yes, thats me right there!! and even though you think it is not me, mi pesa nilisha kula. Yaani can you imagine that, me Damaris Muga as miss Kenya. Ei tho! I love commercials, My dreams are valid! I am the crown princess of all miss Kenyas that have been and will ever be! Even I do not understand what I have written there. Sema #wordsalad. So have you noticed the tagline that is with my part? and so is the most beautiful woman. Which is kind of awkward, because I am acknowledging that I am no longer the most beautiful woman on the land "mirror mirror on the wall" moment right there. What more can I say....Main British awaits me.. If you are new to the blog just toggle through, you might meet Main British.

And here is Deliah, trust me, there is no one in their right mind who would cast Deliah anything else as the super super model she is. Yes I am repeating myself. It is my blog, I do not care if you think I am not professional!! Aki I will remind you of this professional maneno till you say "please dama we get it, just stop! So as you can see here is my Delia, doing it right!

I do not lie- let me inject something here, these outfits are all from KikoRomeo , You know that label right? If you do not, google is a friend- I do not think it was necessary to use the word inject in this sentence, but it is in line with my being professional. Just roll with it.

I do tend to get carried away, but as I was saying... Deliah and I know each because she is a model and well; models do tend to catch up with one another, and we have talked the way people of Kisumu talk to each other, because we are important people in this society and important people must talk to each other. The Jaluo in me may rear its head occasionally, but get used to it, you are in a market - TOI.

Deliah is phenomenal and she is pushing boundaries. A 34 year old Super Mom doing what most of us just dream of doing.. I can see all the 30+ year old women doing azonto, azonto.. If you do not know what Azonto is, please kill yourself.

Si you wish you were looking like that right?

Deliah is on facebook at deliahipupa. She also recently entered the Nivea Black & White cover model Competition. Please ladies go to the NIVEA link and vote for my girl. Thank you very much.

Isn't she stunning? ber yawa!!! kendo ber adieri. (ask your luo friend to translate that) And yes you need luo friends, some of us are related to Lupita, Barak etc itisi..... and you?

Here is the link to voting. NiveaBlackAndWhite. I know I am repeating myself, but what the hell ... all the same, I cant say it enough, please vote and - be inspired

Foot note.

Darlings, we need to support each other, talk good about each other; yeah okay we are allowed the occasional bitching about the bitches who are back stabbing us. But that is all in the line of being girlfriends. Call your girls, its Friday, go out for the drink (that's is what I do with my girls) you can also go to your chamas, bond with your girls, support, uplift, cheer, encourage each other. Laugh and Cry together. Look at this picture. I called Asha who is my niece. I am sure you recognise this photo from my last shoot and Asha brought her girls and they had a blast!!
Look at them all Lipstick Jungle and oozing Sex & the City in my poor backyard.  (which some persons said was not professional, do you have 12,158 followers on facebook? shame on you)

Anyway, I look at this picture and it melts my heart. You need your girls. The ones that will stick with you over the years. Let me tell you something girlfriend, the older you grow, the more difficult it is to make new friends, you need the old girls, who know your village background. Of course as you are climbing the career ladder, you are meeting new people, who only know you in your corporate/business "perfect world" But you need that girl who stuckwithu. (do you want a soundtrack with that?)
The girl who will cry with you and laugh with you and hold your hand in difficult times. And Shout the loudest when you are doing your acceptance speech. Your Girlfriend  You need her and she needs you. Because she is the girl who is going to tell you shit as is. And yes there will be brake ups. If at this moment you and this girl are fuming at each other and you are reading my blog, pick up the phone and tell her this, "listen bitch I am only calling you because damaris asked me to and because I love you to pieces and I miss you terribly"

Finally I must say this again. I, Damaris Muga is deeply honoured to know these women. And most importantly to call them my friends.

And if you tell me about spell check, sijui I am not being professional in my writting, I WILL MAKE YOU MY BUSINESS!! - obviously I do not take critic very well; good night ya'll! heading to Under the Radar for my niece's big Three Zero birthday bash; Yes I am that old!

* drops microphone and waltzes off stage*

I have been meaning to write something on weddings for the longest time. That time has come. I dont know who these are on the above picture, but let me say all the things I love about it. Bride and the groom are radiant. Now you see all these weddings on the Wedding Show on Citizen TV where the bride and groom are looking like the have been forced to have a wedding and well that is not nice. Why are you sulking on your wedding day?!

I love weddings, which girl doesn't?
2. From the bit we can see of the bride's gown and general look, TOP MARKS! She has big hair so she has kept everything else minimal, just her dress and the veil.
3. The groom is spotting the classic black suit.
4. The bridesmaids, though I dont know how I feel about the sleeves there, but  look good too, a nice earth tone color was chosen for the dresses.

That is more or less how you wedding should look in pictures.

So lets get on with it. First things first.

YOUR GOWN

Now I dont know how women think, but if I was getting married and scouting the market for a gown, in this age and era, my first stop would be google- google is a friend I tell you, take my word for it. So I did just that, I went to google. Loads and loads of nice things. I think what most of my women don't know is that LESS IS MORE; imprint this in your head, less is more, less is classy. And by less I dont mean you go dressed like a hooker. Take a look.

Have a good look at this whole outfit, its big at the bottom yes, but less is what has been done to it then look at her accessories, small and discrete, what you end up with is a timeless piece. You know the kind of gown where nobody will point at your pictures ten years later and go like "oh that was 1983 right?" Who wants that?

You are spoilt for choice!! So many incredibly good ideas. But noo, we have to pick ugly; please note the fabric that is used in these gown, do you see anything there shiny shiny? are you seeing them wearing all their favourite white things? The thing with us is this is the day we choose to wear all those white things we have nowhere to go with to, chocker, mara I dont know bangles, watches, clutch bags plus remember you have to hold the flowers!

And the curvy girl just sit down, because I know you want to tell me, oh my size bla bla bla... I have told you what to do with that katumbo especially on a day like this, there must be some sacrifices you are willing to make; particularly on this day!

Please note her skirt has ruffles not gathers!

And who said a curvy girl cant be sassy, I love this short skirt look below, sexy but still has loads of class.

And before  you start shouting ati where are the examples, again, take a seat. Who remembers this cute mama, whose groom was acting all kinds of crazy, I think he is a pastor. She looked exquisitely flawless, radiant and picture perfect, and she is curvy! her groom nailed it too. Except for the parts where he was rolling on the grass and his best man was throwing him several shades of the "bitch please" look. That was priceless:-)

Now with all that knowledge, you know how the kenyan mama is going to do it? Your friends and yourself is cheating you that shiny is good, you want to wear satin and polyester on your wedding day because you want to be all shinny like a princess, and your best of friends is telling you oh that is just soo cute!!! Ditch that woman and get a gay guy, she is not looking out for your best interest! and really its not that I hate princess look, love it.
I love it like this.

Or this

Please (I cant say this enough) look at the way these women have accessorized! Minimal and on point, now you have seen all that then you go like this. Whats this? Why are you doing this to you and your guests?

Do I need to tell you what is wrong here? NO? I thought so.

THE AFRICAN LOOK

You may not want to have the classic white gown, that british kind of thing. You want to be an african queen!!! (bless your dear heart). That is all good. Different is always a good thing. Now in this case I strongly suggest you borrow a leaf from our naija sisters. They are experts.
Look at that!! As you can see the other thing our naija sisters have shindad us in is MAKE UP! They are too way ahead of us, but I am going to discuss that as a topic on its own. Abeg ma sista, you dont find this nice oo? If you dont find this nice, then holy water is all you need. In gallons.
There are many ideas

Find something that works for you. Our very own Paticia Mbela does amazing pieces. I had shown you that earlier here.
For the lazy one who dont want to click on that link.

This is how you add color to your gown. Not those things I was seeing at the Kisumu Fashion Week

HEAD PIECE - VEIL

This simple small piece of cloth is a disaster with most of us. First and foremost it should not look like a mosquito net you just picked off the rack from Nakumatt Supermarket. Once again, simplicity is key. Make a statement but in a subtle classy kind of way. You are the bride we can see you already, dont fear.
And you dont have to have a veil, you could go for something like this if you cant make up your mind. Very nubian, very royal.

It is not written on stone that you have to have a veil! And now on to the length, a short veil is always safe.
I love the italian veil; thats what  I call it but I am sure it has a name, and the only person I ever saw it with is Jules, and I have not seen anyone with it ever since! LOVED HER VEIL to bits, this is how it looks like.

And do you see her hanging many many things around her neck? NO? why are you doing it?

Eds Note
Jules tells me the veil is called a Mantilla. Go find it!

On the length of veil unless you want to look as tacky as Mariah Carey, just dont go there; And by long I mean it is trailing 7 meters behind you. Otherwise if the word Duchess is going come before your name after you sign the marriage certificate then please by all means wear a super trail.

MAKE UP - TOO IMPORTANT. THINK OF IT THE SAME WAY YOU THINK OF YOUR CAKE.

And by that I dont mean CAKE YOUR FACE with make up, which is more or less what most of us have done in the past!
I dont know why we cant get it with the make up, yet in my opinion it is more important than the cake. Seriously how many pictures of your face are going to be on the album, and your cake?
It is an important day, for you and for your face too, so why would you let your friend who is not a make up artist work on your face? Those false eyelashes that are so huge your eyes cant open? and the glittery white eyeshadow, and then you forgot foundation even though you know your skin is bad?
Please invest in a good make up artist; And you could go for a test run, just ask around then go over and tell the makeup artist you want him/her to try out the look on your face, best try these weeks prior. If you can go for cake tasting, you can go for make up testing.

I am not done. So next we will shall go onto the brides maids and the other things that come with weddings, I am going to leave a teaser of some of the comments the girls had on what they hate on weddings, will post the rest later

  • Verah Vashti Okeyo: And then the bridesmaid make baloon dresses and some of them like Verah Okeyo have no 'assets' to hold the dress. Ei a stick in a basket is the thing to decribe the phenomenon omera

  • Connie Ketry: Those guests who come wearing jeans and branded T-shirts should be taken to the Hague..it is rude not make an effort to dress up to attend a wedding unless it is a matter of quantity over quality!(people should invite close friends )

Good night we talk later! Cheers

Hallo my good people, as you have gathered, I am ill, now I dont know if it is true sickness or it is some lethal cools we have here in the house that I over ate, but anyway am feeling unwell, I have taken some tablets and drinking Juliet's concoction that includes apple cider religiously (I have added a little  vodka to taste)

Those beautiful younglings up there are the Sarakasi dancers of SARAKASI TRUST; I am sure you know I went to lecture them on good grooming, style and make up. I had a fantastic time, they were very good to me, and we are going to do a follow up. Great kids, they just need a little help and we are on the correct path. I was honored and humbled that they asked me to come and talk to their younglings on this matter that is close to my heart. Thank you.

Really humbled, just the other day I started this project,  now I have 1800 likes on our facebook page, almost 14000 views on this blog. Good things, I feel all kinds of giddy just writing that, I dont know if I should start writing my thank you speech:-)
Anyway Thank you for supporting my course, and I hope we are all learning.

I know you are expecting pictures, and I hope there are some coming my way as you can imagine I could not talk and take my own pictures:-)

COFFEE AND CRUMBS

My brand new friend Vanessa and some of her friends have organised a free market! By free I mean there is no gate fees! As you can see over there FREE ENTRANCE. This one I am going to for sure!!! And all the Kili Mums am sure will be there too (there is a Facebook page for Kilimani Mums).
Come lets shop, meet new people, business partners and drink some good wine, (the drinking wine part I have just added though it is not on the flyer, but the event is at DIVINO, I expect wine!) Vanessa has promised me that the prices will be very damaris friendly, and you know what that means. So I hope to see you there. Please carry enough money and some extra for my wine, you all need to start donating towards this project:-)

Between I like the whole Kilimani Moms idea, being neighbours digitally. Now that these days you cant just pop into your neighbours house and ask for salt because you ran out of some and your husband is about to walk through the door wanting his dinner!

I highly suggest that the Buru, South B, Kawangware, Karen, Mlolongo, Kitengela, Runda, Uthiru etc etcetera moms to follow suit! in the spirit of being neighbourly, si ati when you are stuck you have to run all the way to your friend at the other end of the city.

I got some great feedback on my last post, people celebrating their mothers, sisters, sistas and just about any woman who has inspired them, I am glad. Please keep reminding them, tell them when they are here, that you are glad they share their lives with you.
No need to make a loooooong eulogy at my funeral and while I was here you never said anything. So when someone comes up to you at my wake (you will for sure be holding a glass of your favourite poison in your hands and dressed to the nines, you must in my honor) and ask, why dont you say something, you can just smile and say "she knew" and continue sipping:-))

I am not going to the mingle I have just decided that now. Whoever is going send me photos, I will play kati here next week with those who want to come visit, tuko na space mob, I will use that 1500 to buy medicine. I will make an appearance on the next Mingle episode!

I also did get some feedback on ladies wanting to loose weight ref: Angelina's photo from previous post, a girl has gone to Mombasa to chill by the beach, you know how you just want to take your new self to the beach, anyway she informs me that those who want to reach her to know more about her diet plan, to do so by sending her a message on facebook she is Kui Koinange. Click, inbox her and get info.

Nairobi is on FIRE!

So word is on the streets that the one and only Eryka Badu is coming to town!!!! Yaani if you want to see a groupie come that day, you shall see me in full glory!! love love Eryka. I shall kesha at the gate of the evetn just to be sure I get a good seat. Or maybe I should just go meet her at the airport, then stalk her to her hotel, wait outside the window of her room, to give her the full groupie treatment ile ya wazungu.

The other person coming is ... DRUM ROLLS PLEASE and insert a soundtrack!
Now judging by the trend while putting into consideration the artists who have graced our presence this year, including James Ingram, Joe, Tarrus Riley and CeCe Winans! I am sure Patti La Belle might just visit us, and if she comes, I will go see her then just wait for the Lord to come and take me home in peace, as I shall not want for anything else. (and if it takes him another 100 years to come for me I shall not question his judgement) AMEN.

IN OTHER EVEN MORE EXCITING NEWS

The Travelling Red Dress Project.
My good friend Lulu Mbela of Poisa and Fashion Photographer Barbara Minishi have teamed up and are having a project that they are working on for the fashion front. It is a photography project. Patricia has designed the dress and Barbara will be doing the photography.
So please keep it here, as I will be giving you full update on this project that I already love. Knowing Lulu and her designs, I hope this dress makes all the travelling it must make and finally come home to me where she belongs.

Do have a great Weekend!

PS
I am still waiting for those photos of your fabulous self, as I want to start featuring my readers on this blog, this is a joint project, you know?
As PROMISED!! I have been up all day and night putting the pictures together but here they are! not all but most. I had to choose and arrange!!!
I think it is safe to say that POISA SPRING/SUMMER 2013 Collection speaks for itself, frankly I have no words to add, Her workmanship is fantastic!! the colour outburst, as you can see am struggling with the words, just work with me.

Patricia says during the creation of this collection she was listening to lots of Afrobeat, Rumba and highlife, while listening to more of Fela and Femi Kuti to inspire herself to design her Spring/Summer 2013 Collection.

She recalls the parties her parents hosted, the music, the dancing, the happiness. She remembers the high waist bell bottomed trousers, mini and maxi dresses made out of kitenge, her aunties and uncles wore, stylish and colourful outfits.
She chose the name MUSIC OF MANY COLOURS from Fela Kuti's Discography. It spoke of the collection she had designed.. Fun, bright and truly Afrocentric.

This collection is a mind journey and interpretation of those memories through design.

Ed's note
You might have noticed that was me trying to summarize Patricia's notes on this collection, May I just say here that my high school english teacher (may her  head be infested by lice) hated me and was always throwing me out of the classroom, in fact I took all my lessons from the window, that is why I cant summarize reports or notes, but I hope that you get the gist of what Patricia is trying to tell you about this collection
I have pulled out some details, that am sure you are interested in, the jewelry as you can see is amazing but am just zeroing in on it for the short sighted:-)

It is all in the details my friend,

I know Patricia has told us about the music and back then the good times, how that era and time inspired her, but PEOPLE!! these shorts here, this one was designed with me in mind, I inspired this one!!! hizo zingine nimekubali ni Fela and Femi, but this one, mimi kabisa! and while she was having me in mind, she envisioned me wearing this for a coffee date at the village market, which let me tell you will happen very soon!! I need colour in my life, and money and these shorts!

And last but not least here comes the bride.......... In the near future bibi harusi, tafadhali take notes, LESS IS MORE, that cant be preached enough in this country!

Now you understand what I meant when I said Patrica nailed it, eeh ni hiyo

I must thank MICHAEL KHATELI who allowed me to use his images. ALL OF THE ABOVE, Please click HERE and head to his blog where you will see how we Nairobi people love to live.
Hey dolls:-) I hope you had the loveliest weekend, now that I have greeted you in such an excellent manner, am not going post any outfit today, I only took one picture from the event and it is not worth posting, but if you all go on strike I will post it:-)

There is a lot to tell about the event and you are about to hear it in great details! I went with Julliet my main partner in things criminal! we were dressed for the occasion, Jules looked epecially lovely in her LBD and heels to boot!! The other reason I dont have more pictures as I promised is because the camera died on me mid show.

I dont think that that this event should have been  called fashion week, for those of us who know fashion week, you know it is a week long affair with designers showcasing their stuff in different locations in the same town, but okay I dont want to compare much. WHOEVER did the event planning bogus ya mwisho. Does not have a clue about fashion events. The location, fantastic, but someone had to go and drape the walls and pillars with Safaricom curtains! WHY?!!
For Kenya we started pretty much on time.

We bought our tickets at the door, but they did not give us tickets Jules can confirm that.
There was no printed program, anything where the Designers names are written to remember them with. I dont know how they missed that important detail.
I dont have anything to say about the MC as in SERIOUSLY?!!!!!!

The front row seats were also draped in some fugly fabric, but our seats my oh my, I hope there is a picture here you can get to see them, covered in african print, brilliant, something I must recommend to those who are doing weddings in the near future!!
There was this airline I keep forgetting the name, one of the sponsors, they had one of their crew members, that uniform was... let me just say not fashionable.

Then there was a ruffle ticket something something where somebody on the front row seat won, which my kenyan mind immediately thought RIGGING!! because my card was not picked (you had to drop your business card in this basket) so anyone who did not have a business card did not stand a chance; But at one point, I did not feel so bad about it, because that mama said "you win a ticket to any of our destinations!" and am thinking this winner is just cheka chekaing over here and maybe she has won a one way ticket na ataenda akwame huko Abuja;
Before this ruffle ticket thing the representative of the Airline gave some looooooong speech about the airline, Precision Airline! but I keep forgeting that name and what sticks to my head is prestige!

Have I mentioned there that Her Excellency the Tanzanian Ambassador to Kenya Ms. Batilda Burian graced us with her presence, a lovely lady and she looked very regal in her African attire!
Which reminds me, Tanzanians are very respectful, the lady representatives, did a slight curtsy while greeting her excellency! I liked that.

On the guests: the Ladies showed up and showed out, I must say most of the ladies looked stunning not all but most! (such a pity my camera died)
Am giving this report in a random order, as I remember them:-)

Have I also mentioned that one model also won an air ticket to the coming Swahili fashion week in Tanzania?! But that one I heard very clearly "return ticket"!

I have just gone to the SFW facebook page and pulled this picture, there are no pictures of the collections as yet, but go like them, they will definitely have better pictures than mine, and soon I hope.
Ebu angalia hiyo uniform ya nini Airline! yawa surely!!

Another thing that made me almost jump out of the window, the sponsors were awarded certificates!, now this is how it went, (mind you this is all happening between the shows, we are sitting tight waiting on Lulu, she was the last to present her collection) the MC and a guy calling out the names and the Ambassador, the guy calls out the name, a representative of the sponsoring company comes on stage does air kissy kissy with ambassador and gets their certificate, now you maybe wondering why they were awarding certificates in the middle of a fashion show, yeah I did too. Here below found a picture!
Picture is from SFW FB page. And does the Ambassador look lovely or does she look lovely!?!

But all in all it was a lovely show, my camera did me in and so I dont have pictures of some designers and Lulus.

YOU GUY!!!!! Patricial NAILED IT! and am not just saying this because she is my friend, I will take the time, go and take pictures for you so you know what I am talking about, seriously I dont have words to describe that collection, she made the whole going there thing even the more worthwhile!

In short which is actually in long, concidering the length of this post, with all the ups and downs, keeping in mind this is the first time ever SFW is being done here in Kenya, it was a lovely evening, a great event with great designers!!!
The after party was at SkyLux, but we chose to skip and headed to SOHO for a quick drink before heading home. I was home at 1am! Because I wanted to be fresh to write this thing, I swear that is truth right there!

COLLECTION #1

I really really loved this collection, great finish, great fabric, my colours, whoever wants to give me a present HINT HINT HINT!! Hintmentation!

COLLECTION #2

Do not ask me about the models or the make up, if you dont like makeup, just think like this, Picasso's work is great expensive art, this is not everyday street makeup, and I have no opinion whatsoever on it!

COLLECTION #3

I especially loved the pants and orange top, buuut? how did the designer not watch out for this sin! A mistake that most women make, really how could they miss this!!!
How CAN THIS HAPPEN!!!

COLLECTION #4

COLLECTION #5
Kuna vile outfit chosen for the middle model is not fitting her, having said that, I love love short shorts, but can someone tell me to where I should wear these, you know Nairobi men are really primitive, primitive energy like those korean people said in that airline ad; you cant go like this to Bus Station or Ambassador, in fact anywhere in CBD, no way!!!

But I hear that at Village Market all the mamas walk around like this, now I dont know if I will ever get a house in that area code so, I can walk around like this yawa!!!

COLLECTION #6
This is another one I love, which brings something to mind, today Angelina and I were talking about what most women here wear to weddings, you know the daytime, garden or kiwanja wedding, and then you find this mama has worn a shimmering cocktail dress, during the day in this nairobi heat!! why? why are you doing that, and we said, you can never go wrong with an african print in any cut, just make it a nice cut.
Here is a hint, take the hint my friend, take the hint, though if its out in the field or garden for that matter, I highly suggest wedges, you always see these women in the wedding show, dressed really well and their heels can't be seen because they are buried in the ground, si uliambiwa it's a garden wedding? why are you wearing sharp heels?

COLLECTION #7
There now dont say you did not get the MEMO!
I dont think I will ever make another post longer than this, am not done yet!! ukiboeka just go and come back..

COLLECTION #8
The leso is nolonger just a piece of fabric  with a saying, that women use as aprons in the market, or to tie a baby on your back, (that english is mbovu, but you are understanding) it can look really really hot!

Ed's Note:
Just got some pictures of Pat Mbela's collection for POISA!!! Consider this a sneak preview, and congratulate me for my grand efforts!!!
Update
ME AND JULES!!
Due to Public DEMAND!! yawa there tho! kwisa! and priz priz I know even I need eyebrow lessons! Don't' tell me, and that my bogus posture is because I was trying to accommodate Jules!
